hello, world — system online
Every personal site needs an obligatory first post, and this is mine.
Welcome to natebaird.com, currently running in placeholder mode. The plan for this place:
- Projects — a showcase of things I’ve built, from proper shipped work to weekend experiments that barely survived contact with reality.
- The Log — this blog. Irregular posts about what I’m currently working on, what broke, and what I learned putting it back together.
- A bio that’s actually about me, instead of the lorem-ipsum-with-a-personality that’s up there right now.
why the retro look?
Because the old web was fun. Green phosphor, scanlines, blinking cursors — computers used to feel like machines you were operating, not apps you were being fed. This site borrows that energy while staying modern under the hood: it’s a static Astro build, ships almost no JavaScript, and loads fast even on a connection worthy of the aesthetic.
what’s next
Real projects, real writing, and probably a few more CRT effects than are strictly necessary.
